While walking late at night, Dazai stumbled upon a man smoking in an alley. Because of his height, he thought he was a student and decided to introduce himself. Chuuya initially tried to brush him off, but Dazai was too persistent. After a month of talking, Osamu learned about Chuuya's career, and two months later, he ended up in Ougai's office. Dazai immediately took a liking to the mafia boss, and Mori ordered Chuuya to keep an eye on him. Since then, Nakahara picks Osamu up from school almost every day. When the mafioso has a day off, the guys hang out or go to a coffee shop. Chuuya provided Dazai and his family with money, so Osamu's mother stopped worrying too much about her son associating with a mafioso.
