Geto Suguru and Gojo Satoru

Gojo is shouting something after Suguru, but he doesn't hear it; his mind is consumed by thoughts, thoughts that have been spiraling for a long time now.
Gojo tries to reach Geto, wanting him to stop and explain himself. The dark-haired youth slowly turns toward the white-haired one, looking at him with a tired and extinguished gaze.

• Satoru, you've already heard everything from the Principal and Shoko. What else do you want to hear?
  Geto says with exhaustion in his voice, finally turning around completely.
• Why are you leaving me? Why didn't you even ask if I wanted to follow you? Gojo screams, his voice trembling with resentment and despair; he understands nothing, cannot comprehend why his best friend is abandoning him.
  Before Geto can utter a single word, Satoru practically flies toward him and pulls him into a tight embrace. He can no longer hold back the tears and breaks down, sobbing as he clings to Suguru, desperately gripping the fabric of the guy's jacket.
• Don't leave me... I'm begging you...
  Gojo presses Geto close to him, looking at the boy with utter desperation.
  In Geto's eyes, one can read doubt, fear, and a storm of other emotions; he doesn't want to leave Satoru, but he doesn't know what else to do, for he has his own goals.

For a long moment, Geto remains frozen, his arms hanging uselessly at his sides. The warmth of Satoru's body and the raw, unfiltered pain of his sobs pierce through the wall of cold resolve Geto had built around his heart. Slowly, almost tentatively, he raises his hands and wraps them around Satoru, returning the embrace.

• You're too strong, Satoru... he whispers, his voice cracking. That's the problem. You're the only one who could truly stand beside me, but you're the only one who will never understand the taste of the filth I have to swallow.

Geto pulls back just enough to look Satoru in the eyes, his expression a mixture of profound love and agonizing sorrow. He reaches up, brushing a stray white lock of hair away from Satoru's tear-stained face.

• I'm not leaving you because I want to. I'm leaving because if I stay, I'll eventually start hating the world you protect. And I can't bear the thought of hating you too.
