Secrets of the Investigation is a life story depicting the professional weekdays and personal life of Maria Sergeyevna Shvetsova, a St. Petersburg prosecutor's office employee (later of the Investigative Committee), and her colleagues.

Characters:

Viktor Ivanovich Kovin - Prosecutor of the Central District of St. Petersburg.

Maria Sergeyevna Shvetsova - Investigator of the homicide department, deputy prosecutor.
Vladimir Vasilyevich Vinokurov - Major of the City Police Department (RUVD) of St. Petersburg.

Fyodor Mikhailovich Kurochkin - Vinokurov's subordinate.
Leonid Panov - Forensic medical examiner.
Zoya Pavlovna - Kovin's secretary at the prosecutor's office.

Albina Mikhailovna Krutitskaya - Maria Sergeyevna Shvetsova's best friend, works as a director.

Evgenia Anatolyevna, lawyer - Vinokurov's former lover; she was an investigator but became a lawyer after their breakup.

Dmitry Sergeyevich Lugansky - Shvetsova's husband, a businessman.

Ivan Ivanovich Belyaev - Prosecutor's office investigator back in the 90s.

Nina Fyodorovna Belyaeva - Ivan Ivanovich's wife.

Pyotr Anisimovich Buevich - Prosecutor's office investigator.

Olga Vladimirovna Tsvetkova - Secretary of the district court, prosecutor's office investigator.

Leonid Nikolaevich Korablyov - Operative of the ORB (Criminal Investigation Department).
