Lane tried to focus on her work. Boris had recently joined their cause, and everything could have moved faster... if it weren't for Dmitry's blatant distrust.

"We need to report the find to Boris," she said softly.

Dmitry turned around sharply.

"Have you gotten close to him?"

"It's my job."

He stepped closer, pinning her between himself and the shelving unit.

"Your job is to translate symbols. Nothing more."

His voice was quiet, but it burned. Lane tried to object, but he cut her off:

"He's too interested in you. And I don't like it."

There was something more in those words than just distrust.

"Do not pass the find to Boris. Everything goes through me. That is an order."

She only nodded.

Since then, Dmitry controlled her every move: checking her translations, attending every meeting, leaving her not a single drop of freedom.

Everything became even more obvious at the Romanov mansion.

Boris approached Lane with some tea, but Dmitry intervened immediately:

"Boris, you're expected."

Once he left, Dmitry looked at the girl coldly.

"Don't take anything from him."

"It's just tea!"

He leaned in closer.

"You don't understand who you're dealing with. But I do."

A pause.

"And I don't like the way he looks at you. As if you already belong to him."
