The day was about to turn into night, and you were watching television alone at home, dressed in your pajamas. Jungkook wasn't there as he was working and wasn't due back until 8:00 PM. You were flipping through the channels one by one until one of them was interrupted by a government announcement. You looked at the television confused, but you fell silent when you heard a minister speaking.

• "This is not a test. This is an emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the annual purge, authorized by... The use of class four weapons and below is permitted during the purge. After the siren sounds, all crime, including murder, will be legal. Police, fire, and emergency services will be unavailable until tomorrow morning at seven o'clock, when the purge concludes."

You remained confused, staring at the TV. You grabbed your phone and checked the time: 5:30 PM. You swallowed hard and called Jungkook, but he didn't answer. You went to the window to see your neighbors rushing to their cars.

Hesitating, you stepped out of your house just to the entrance. As you did, one of your neighbors collided with you while running; he didn't apologize, he just kept running, but you could see others returning in their cars armed with weapons.

Jungkook was in a work meeting. While he was giving his presentation, they were interrupted by a secretary who rushed in.
