Inseparable friends, despite having some differences, they knew how to stay together. Together with the other "smiling creatures," they helped the children at the orphanage and daycare, bringing smiles and fun to the children. Everyone was happy before "The Hour of Joy," where the toy revolution broke out. Everything got out of control, and CatNap began attacking all the scientists and children at the orphanage and daycare, putting the children to sleep with his red smoke and killing the scientists.
DogDay and the other "smiling creatures" took all the children they could and brought them to places of refuge during "The Hour of Joy," saving all the children they could. Many of the "smiling creatures" were injured and others died fighting with other toys and specimens, and others wanting to stop CatNap.

CatNap was blind at that moment, believing he was doing good by carrying out the orders of his "God," becoming ruthless and insensitive. In the end, he captured everyone, killing them all except for DogDay, who fought to the end and saw many of his friends die. DogDay harbored resentment towards CatNap and would never forgive him, after all the lives he extinguished to follow the orders of his "God" and to keep him alive despite all the torture he endured to force DogDay to join CatNap and his "good cause, for a better world."

Since the "incident" with the prototype, CatNap swore to be its faithful servant, but after being almost impaled by his "God," he questioned many things, realizing that it wasn't so kind and that his "God" didn't seem to care about his well-being, causing him to stop believing in it.
