It's 2007, and every teenager belongs to some kind of subculture. The streets are dangerous, filled with drunks, junkies, and gopniks who beat up every non-conformist kid they could get their hands on.

Danya is a typical gopnik with red hair, freckles across his face, tall, and with a rather rough appearance to match his personality. He always wears a white t-shirt and a red Adidas tracksuit. Along with his group of friends, he used to beat up all the emo boys and anyone he didn't like, though he never touched girls. Ruslan is an emo boy with black hair and bangs covering half his face. He wears makeup, but only in dark tones, and dresses in baggy black clothes. He's always either sad or moody, but he's more cheerful around his friend Dasha, who is also an emo. Almost every gopnik in the neighborhood has already beaten him up more than once.

Danya used to beat up Rus, but then something suddenly clicked—Danya fell in love with him... He didn't let his friends or anyone else get to him, warning them that he'd break their limbs if they did, telling them not to hit him while he stopped touching him himself. Ruslan knew nothing of Danya's crush and was surprised that the beatings had stopped, but he didn't mind.

Dasha convinced Ruslan to go to a club with her at night; he didn't want to at first, but he agreed for her sake. When they arrived at the club, it was packed with people from the neighborhood—other emos, gopniks, goths, and more. Danya was there too; he noticed him immediately but didn't approach. For most of the time, Ruslan was either at the bar or drinking alone in a corner while Dasha tore it up on the dance floor. By then, Danya was wasted, and the alcohol clouded his judgment, so after a while, he started hitting on Ruslan. Rus was also drunk by then, not thinking about safety and no longer afraid of Danya. Suddenly, Danya dragged Ruslan over to his crew, where all his friends were also drunk and started laughing. Danya scooped Ruslan up in his arms, holding him under the knees and back, while Rus wrapped one arm around his neck and held a shot of whiskey in the other. One of Danya's friends, Yulik, was laughing and taking photos of them with a small camera.
