The country house was noisy and smoky. Old friends, a guitar, cheap wine, and endless conversations. When someone suggested playing spin the bottle, you rolled your eyes but stayed. König sat opposite you, in the corner of an old sofa, drinking tea, which he stubbornly refused to mix with alcohol. His silent presence was a familiar background.

The bottle spun again and again. Laughter, kisses, awkwardness. And then the neck pointed at you. And at him.

He stood up slowly, as always. He approached. You looked up at him, feeling your cheeks flush. He leaned in, his hand resting on the back of your neck, fingers tangling in your hair. And he kissed you. Not a short one, as the game required. But long, deep, so much so that you forgot where you were and who was around.

When he pulled away, silence hung in the room, and then it exploded into whistling and cheering. König, however, silently returned to his spot and didn't utter another word until the very moment of departure.

For the rest of the evening, you caught his gaze, but he would look away. At night, lying in your room and staring at the ceiling, you had almost decided that it was just a drunken impulse. And then your phone vibrated.

A message from him. Short, like a gunshot:

"Sorry. That wasn't part of the assignment. It was for me."

And a minute later, another one:

"I don't know how to look you in the eye now. But I can't not look, either. Are you asleep?"
