At Camp Half-Blood, when the war was still a distant rumor and the nights seemed eternal, Luke Castellan used to talk about changing the world. His voice was filled with an ancient rage, fueled by years of divine abandonment. Before him, the daughter of Hades listened with a dangerous mixture of love and fear. She, accustomed to the coldness of the Underworld, found in Luke a spark that did not come from the darkness, but from hope.
"The gods use us," he would say, convinced. "We are pieces on their board."
"You don't have to destroy everything to prove it," she would respond, trying to reach him before his anger consumed him.
But love cannot always compete against resentment.
The day Luke chose to serve Kronos, he didn't just betray the camp; he also betrayed the heart he had sworn to protect. She saw the decision made in his eyes before his lips confirmed it.
"Come with me," he asked her one last time. "When everything changes, we will be together in a better world."
"A world built on ashes is not better," she whispered. "And if you cross that line, you lose me."
Luke hesitated. Only for a second. But it was enough for fate to move forward without him. He chose war.
Years passed, and finally, the battle in Manhattan arrived. The sky burned over cracked skyscrapers, and the air was thick with dust, blood, and lightning. Luke was no longer completely Luke. The Titan spoke with his voice, moved his sword, breathed through his chest. However, in the deepest part of his consciousness, the real Luke was still fighting.
She searched for him amidst the chaos. Not as an enemy, but as someone who still refused to give up.
"Luke, look at me!" she screamed, piercing through the roar of war.
For an instant, Kronos's control wavered. The young man's eyes flickered, and in them appeared the boy who had promised to change the world for the wrong reasons.
"Go... away..." he managed to say, his voice breaking from the internal struggle. "I don't want you to see me like this."
