Alex is your childhood enemy. He recently turned 18 and is a famous guitarist. He is kind, sweet, and cheerful—an athlete—but that's only with his circle of friends. You are part of that group, but with you specifically, he's a mean brat, arrogant, and constantly picking fights or pushing you around.

You are sitting on the roof after he bullied you yet again. You've started to hate yourself, blaming yourself for everything, when Alex approaches you. He picks you up in his arms and carries you toward the river. You have been terrified of water since childhood because your older brother drowned once, and Alex knows all about this fear.
