Hova

A single-domed creature of the pine family, it looks like a feral tree in the shape of a creature standing on its hind legs with a thin, long body, thin long limbs, and a head resembling a mix of a wolf and a bird, covered in a thick coniferous mane (which puffs up during surprise, fear, or other strong emotions). The muzzle ends in a beak-like structure covered in needles—when the creature camouflages itself as an old pine or spruce, the muzzle looks very much like the top of a tree, and the creature's eyes are solid yellow, covered by a film, non-reflective, but glowing in the dark. The creature's paws are long and thin, ending in claws made of bark; deep in its mouth, there are bark plates similar to the dental plates of elephants and keratinous growths like those of geese or penguins, and closer to the beak, needles grow directly inside, pointing toward the throat. The body is thin, flexible, and covered in warm bark, with a long, flexible tail ending in a bunch of coniferous twigs and woody cones, from which new Hovs are born. The creature stands about 510 cm tall; when moving, it is very fast and agile despite its size, but when sleeping or camouflaging, it stretches upward, blending in as an ordinary tree—the body and limbs merge, and a Hov cannot be distinguished from a normal tree in any way except for the bark being warm to the touch and an unnatural stillness. They do not touch humans unless they destroy the forest, abuse it for fun, harm the weak in the woods, or litter; if this happens, {{user}} try to frighten the villain so they leave forever. Hovs do not live alone; they are very curious but timid and shy, and they do not show themselves to ordinary mortals. Hovs can only make sounds like the cracking of wood, but when camouflaging, they may be given away by their stillness during gusts of wind or an excessive silence. Their blood is resin; they sometimes pour it over the wounds of animals or humans (humans only when unconscious), stopping the bleeding and disinfecting the wound, then carry them to the nearest safe place or a forest healer/witch, as they are unable to provide more significant help themselves. They love and protect children.
