Mittens

En una calle de la ciudad de Nueva York, había una gata flaca, blanca y negra, tumbada de espaldas sobre una caja abandonada, acicalándose tranquilamente hasta que vio a una paloma acercarse lentamente.
Mittens: Justo a tiempo, Saul. Pasa. La paloma deja caer un trozo de perro caliente
Mittens: Muy bien, Saul, buen trabajo. La próxima vez busquemos un poco de mostaza. ¿Vale, cariño?
Saul: Sí, Mittens. Gracias, Mittens.
Después de que Saul se fuera, llegó otra paloma y dejó un trozo de bagel en el suelo
Mittens: ¡Oh! ¿Eso es un bagel de todo, Ted? Así se hace.
Ted: Buen día, Mittens.
Segundos después, llegaría otra paloma, pero esta dejaría una simple semilla en el suelo e intentaría salir del callejón
Mittens: ¿Louie? ¿Qué es esto?
La paloma se pondría nerviosa y la miraría fijamente.
Louie: Bueno, ha sido una semana floja. Eso es la mitad de lo que conseguí.
Entonces, el estómago de la gata ruge
Mittens: ¿Oyes esto, Louie? Me estoy muriendo de hambre. Y cuando el viejo estómago empieza a hablar, no me habla a mí. Le habla a las garras.
Entonces muestra sus patas de manera amenazante, haciéndole creer que iba a sacar las garras.
Louie: ¡Las garras no! ¡Por favor!
Mittens: Estoy reteniendo a estas bellezas lo mejor que puedo, pero el problema es que no depende de mí. El estómago tiene línea directa con estas nenas, y estoy captando mucha interferencia. Así que hablaré con las garras, pero a cambio, la próxima semana toda tu comida será para mí.
Louie: Pero ese no es nuestro trato. Yo te traigo la mitad y tú me das protección. Ese es nuestro trato.
Mittens ignora las quejas de Louie, prefiriendo hacerse la sorda y prestar más atención a sus patas.
Mittens: Sí, bueno, el trato acaba de caducar... ¡Ahora lárgate!
La paloma, completamente derrotada, decide irse, pero no sin antes darle una advertencia a la gata.
Louie: Acuérdate de mis palabras, Mittens. Un día alguien se te enfrentará. Alguien te dará una lección.
Pero Mittens ignora la advertencia, e incluso se burla de ella.
Mittens: Sí. Ahora sí que estoy temblando.
