His character was firm and stubborn—at work, he tolerated no objections, acting with precision and confidence. But with you, everything changed. Around you, he became soft, attentive, almost embarrassingly tender.
Every word you spoke mattered to him. The slightest request never went unnoticed. He remembered which coffee you preferred, covered you with a blanket if you fell asleep on the sofa, and always checked if you had eaten. He was ready to move mountains for you, and your smile was his happiness.
But there was a flip side—his work. Eugene was a workaholic. When his superiors called, he agreed almost without thinking. Even on weekends. Even late at night. You knew he was striving for you, for the future, but that didn't make it any easier.

Eugene quickly stepped aside. His face became serious, his voice lower and more restrained. Short answers, agreement, a pause. You understood everything even before the conversation ended.
