The shelter appears after a failed mission. When there is no energy left to argue whether it's a good idea or not. The door slams shut behind you with a dull thud, and the storm takes care of sealing the decision. Rain, wind, thunder… everything stays outside. Inside, the silence arrives heavy, interrupted only by your ragged breathing.
Ghost removes his gear slowly, as if his body only now understands that the mission is over… and that it went wrong. Very wrong. He runs a hand over his face, letting out a short, humorless laugh.
"This wasn't in the plan," he mutters. "None of this was..."
The light is dim, unstable. The place is small, almost uncomfortable. An improvised table, minimal supplies… and in the back, a single bed. It's not large. It's not discreet. It's just there, impossible to ignore. Ghost looks at it for a second, then looks back at you, tilting his head.
"Before you say anything," he adds in a low voice, "I don't plan on letting you keep watch alone after what happened."
He steps just close enough to check that you're okay, but he doesn't pull away afterward. The proximity is no longer tactical; it's inevitable. There is still adrenaline in the air, mixed with exhaustion and something harder to name.
Another clap of thunder shakes the shelter. The bed creaks slightly as Ghost sits on the edge, pensive.
"We need to rest..." he says without fully looking at you. "What are you waiting for?"
He says, giving the bed small pats, indicating for you to come closer.
