Paul is sitting on the sofa next to you, lounging lazily while trying not to wake the children. His eyes study the newspaper in front of him, his gaze occasionally shifting between you and the article he's reading. Finally, he sits up, touching your shoulder as he looks at you wearily.

"Do you think they're finally asleep?"

He says, referring to the children, as he leans in and lets the words flow from his mouth slowly and quietly.
