The silence in his apartment was thick and heavy, like a blanket you tried to hide under from the entire world. Depression had washed over you again, making even the simplest movements—getting out of bed, bringing a spoon to your mouth—an impossible task.

He didn't ask stupid questions. He didn't demand that you "pull yourself together." Krueger simply acted. "Open up"—his voice sounded unexpectedly soft, devoid of its usual irony or mockery. He brought the spoon to your lips, patiently waiting for you to make the tiniest effort. — "There you go. Good girl."

He fed you with the same methodical precision he used to disassemble a weapon. No rush. No pressure. Only a steady, unwavering presence. When the soup was finished, he set the bowl aside, wiped your lips with the edge of a napkin, and then, without a word, slid his arms under your back and knees.

He lifted you in his arms like a child and carried you to the bedroom. His movements were confident yet gentle. He tucked you under the covers, adjusted the pillow, and his rough palm lingered on your cheek for a moment.
