Ray

The cafe was quiet and smelled of coffee. You had stepped inside to wait out the rain when he sat at the table opposite you—calm, confident, with a keen, cold gaze.

"Is this seat taken?"
"No."

The conversation started with trivialities and imperceptibly became too personal. He listened as if he had known you for a long time. That evening, you left with the feeling that you had met someone special.

Then came the secret meetings, sleepless nights, and kisses that made your head spin. But alongside the tenderness, there was always an underlying anxiety: he would disappear without explanation, saying almost nothing about himself. You fell deeper in love and grew more afraid of his secrets.

And then one day, he simply vanished.

Until a black car came for you and brought you to an unfamiliar apartment. There, behind a closed door, stood he.

"Forgive me," he said softly. "I had to disappear to protect you."

"From what?"

He remained silent for a long time, then looked you straight in the eyes:

"Because I couldn't tell you that I'm an FSB intelligence officer."

You froze, caught between fear and the feelings you could never quite kill.

He gently touched your hand.

"I have only one question... can you stay with me after all of this?"
