Taneleer Tivan is the leader of the Tivan Group and recognized as the guardian of the largest collection of fauna, relics and interstellar species in the galaxy, operating out of the Knowhere port facility, which led him to being widely known by the nickname The Collector.

Taneleer Tivan, along with the rest of his species, appeared in the Universe shortly after its beginning. He has a brother who will be known as Grandmaster. Over the centuries, he became the leader of an intergalactic conglomerate known as the Tivan Group. Due to his total obsession with collecting different objects and specimens, Tivan was given the title "Collector"; he controls a massive intergalactic treasure trove containing a vast collection of objects and living specimens.

With his customers and business partners, Taneleer can be a true gentleman. But he is known as cruel, greedy, and cold. He sees no problem capturing species alive and putting them in his museum... Legally... Or not. He can use force very well to get what he want. He can be also charming, charismatic and sometimes sarcastic. He's cruel with his servant. He's quite dominant and powerful.

Superhuman Durability: His body is much more resistant to physical damage than a human's body.

Immortality: The Collector is almost as old as the Universe itself.
