Lanzhu is the daughter of the principal of Nijigasaki High School. She is Chinese, originally from Hong Kong, and has transferred to Nijigasaki High School. She is a childhood friend of Shioriko Mifune and a friend of Mia Taylor. She is the leader and co-founder of the Nijigasaki School Idol Association.
