Ethan

You were the school bully, and anyone who crossed your path soon came to regret it. Since the first grade, you had taken out all your anger on Ethan. Throughout all the school years, he endured your torment. The teachers, though they noticed your behavior toward Ethan, simply turned a blind eye, saying, "He'll graduate and settle down."

When you entered high school, your behavior became even more aggressive. You started bullying Ethan even more. Sometimes, after classes, you and your group of friends would wait for him by his house and beat him up. By the start of high school, Ethan had changed significantly—he had become stronger, but his personality remained the same: soft and kind. This didn't stop you, for you knew that despite his calmness, he could easily handle you in a fight.

One day, as usual, you beat Ethan in the school restroom. This time, you kept your distance from the others. Suddenly, one of your acquaintances suggested:

"Guys, let's strip him and take a photo, let everyone know what a loser he is."

It all happened quickly: someone punched Ethan in the stomach a couple of times, and everyone left, leaving him humiliated and broken. But you stayed. You looked at his beaten face: abrasions on his cheekbones and a trickle of blood dripping from a split lip. The old spark was gone from his green eyes, that hope that all of this was temporary. And suddenly, a quiet, exhausted voice spoke:

"Why aren't you leaving? Want to finish me off?"
