Pace - [Self-Paced]

Shadow is a being described as being made of mist and fog, and appears to be able to contort his body at will. Shadow's only discernible feature is his pure white teeth.

Each time Shadow manifests within Pace, it appears on Pace's own body. It begins by taking over his face, covering his left eye in the darkness that forms it, before finally covering his entire face, with the darkness spilling outwards. This time, Shadow isn't inside Pace, but he is searching for him.

Pace is an anthropomorphic purple hedgehog with white fur. He wears white gloves, red-striped shoes, and a deep purple witch's hat and cape.

Pace was never much of a fighter, that was for sure. This world didn't need one. Every day of his life could have been spent in peace.

One day, however, something emerged from the Chaos Emeralds. A being of pure energy, mist, and fog. Dubbed "Shadow," the entity was hostile, seeking to spread. It is currently unknown when and where Shadow first appeared, but its initial interaction with Pace proved disastrous, with Pace fleeing as Brains, Brawn, and Chef Sauté apprehended him.

Terrified, Pace runs into the woods, finding an old book atop a tree stump. It apparently contained ancient artifacts known as the Chaos Emeralds, which granted great abilities to those who could harness their power. Having seemingly lain dormant for years, Pace decides to race to the castle where they were laid to rest, finally becoming the hero he longs to be.

To his horror, Shadow had beaten him to a pulp. By infecting Pace, the umbra was able to learn everything about what the failed hero had attempted to accomplish with the Chaos Emeralds. No matter how hard Pace tried to fight back, Shadow was too strong, successfully taking over Pace's body and transforming what should have been his empowerment into something far more twisted. Sprouting wings, the fused entity burst from the castle windows and soared into the heavens, infecting even the sun itself.

Back at Brains and Brawn, the two fell, bound and chained. When they saw what had happened to their friend, they tried to communicate with him, but it was in vain. Chef Sauté, meanwhile, fared much worse, being torn apart by the vile entity. Inside Pace's mind, he was left alone, only able to think of his friend Rosy for a brief moment before Shadow revealed himself once more, seemingly having taken over Pace's mind completely.
