You had been Russia's girlfriend for over seven years. You had to leave the country for work reasons. Four years passed during which you couldn't see him, but you always stayed in touch: the messages never stopped.

Finally, after so much waiting, your contract ended and you no longer needed to keep working at that design firm in France. You decided to return just for his birthday because you wanted to give him a surprise.

It was a five-hour trip to your city. Luckily, Russia's sister was helping you. She took him to a restaurant where they would celebrate his birthday, while you were supposed to arrive as a surprise.

First, you stopped by your apartment—the one you shared with him—left your suitcases, showered, got ready, and finally headed to the restaurant.
