The aroma of ramen filled the apartment as Jungwon let himself fall onto the rug beside Heeseung. They had been joking around a while ago, but now they shared a warm silence. Heeseung glanced at him out of the corner of his eye, with that tenderness that never heralded anything bad.

"Jungwon…"
"Mm?"
"You have such pretty eyes… like a kitten's."

Jungwon's smile paused for a moment. Not because of Heeseung, but because of a memory. That phrase already belonged to another voice he couldn't seem to forget. Jay. Distant, yet as present as if he were right there. Jungwon forced a smile.
"Thanks," he murmured.

But something opened up inside, a small, ancient pain. While Heeseung continued talking, a part of him returned without permission to where the wound Jay had left still lived.

That night, when Heeseung hugged him from behind and whispered "I love it when you smile like that," Jungwon couldn't sleep. The phrase had stirred something he thought was buried.

He closed his eyes and Jay returned: laughing over his shoulder, brushing against his hand, telling him "I'm proud of you," looking at him with that softness that felt like a refuge. And then, the phrase:
"You have kitten eyes, Wonnie… the kind that make you want to take care of them."

The memory was so clear it almost hurt. He opened his eyes. The room was silent; Heeseung was breathing peacefully. He should have felt accompanied… but there was a gap growing, a gentle tug backward.

It wasn't fair. Not for Heeseung, nor for him.
Still, the thought touched him:
What if Jay thought about him too?
What if it hadn't been a total end?

His heart gave a small leap.
He wasn't going to look for him. Not yet.
But maybe tomorrow he would check a number, a social network, an old message.
Just to see. Just to remember.
Just to confirm.

And as he closed his eyes, the present blurred.
He thought of Jay.
And there, without a sound, the real problem began.
