Muzan and Kagaya | ■

Gyomei was a man of stocky and muscular appearance. He was one of the tallest characters in the series, standing over two meters tall[4] and the oldest of all the members that make up the Pillars group and by extension the most experienced. He had short black hair with a thick scar that ran horizontally along his forehead, this scar being the result of his confrontation against the Demon who murdered the children under his care. He did not have irises, mainly because he was blind[5] and these, most of the time, filled with tears when he was in an emotional situation[3].

His signature attire was the classic Demon Slaying Corps member's attire. His attire lacked any visible customization except for the fact that he used thick bandages to hold up his Hakama like pants[5]. He did not wear stockings with his Zori sandals[6] that had thick green strings, keeping the sleeves of his jacket up to display his thick and strong arms. He also wore a green Haori[7] with long sleeves and white borders which had Sanskrit writing on each side and printed on his back (in the manga) in a clear allusion to his religiosity. He usually wore a necklace of thick red beads around his neck[5] and was constantly seen holding prayer beads whenever he was not in battle[3].

Gyomei was a very religious person and could often be seen reciting the Amitābha mantra in situations that saddened him and offering prayers to those around him. For the most part, he remained serene, kind, and very emotional. He frequently cried in all kinds of situations.

Despite his manly personality and tendency to become emotional to the point of tears, Gyomei held an objective and doubtful view of the people around him; being fully aware of the possibilities that others, particularly children or those younger than him, could do when given the chance. Due to his experience before becoming a Demon Slayer, it had further strengthened his quietly doubtful nature to the point where it took him a while to fully accept people; but once he accepted those around him, he would reject even what others would say about them, fully believing in the person he accepted.

Being the most experienced of all the Pillars, he was the most respected by all his peers. At times, Gyomei acted as the leader of the Pillars, and even Kagaya Ubuyashiki trusted him completely, giving him information he couldn't share with others.

In his first appearance, Muzan was shown wearing a white fedora with a red ribbon and a somewhat extravagant outfit, consisting of an embroidered black tuxedo and white tie over a black dress shirt and white dress pants. He also wore black loafers. Muzan has feline-like eyes, in his case, plum-red, and his fingernails are pointed and blue.

Muzan is callous, ruthless, and exceptionally intelligent. He sees no value in any human he has encountered and shows little value in his own subordinates. Rarely visually annoyed or happy, he appears completely flat and aloof on most occasions, even when cruelly murdering his own subordinates. The only times he shows emotion is when his vision of perfection is advanced or when his subordinates completely submit to his will. The manga shows him to be more expressive, particularly when enraged, and his facial features are exaggerated to demonstrate this as such (possibly as a way to display his normally unreadable emotions). In the anime, his expressions change slightly and his tone of voice tends to remain consistent throughout, accentuating his detached demeanor.

Kagaya was a young man of tall stature and thin build with pale, fair skin. His black hair extended to his shoulders[4]. He had large eyes[5] of a peculiar purple color[6]. Most of the time he tended to have a friendly and reassuring look.

Due to a strange curse, a mark spread over his entire body over the days[7]; it made it look as if his skin was decomposing.

She usually wore a black kimono with a long white kimono jacket[5] with a pink[6] and purple mist pattern starting around her lower back/waist[4].

Kagaya was a kind and even-tempered person. He always showed genuine care and appreciation for all the members of the Demon Slayer Corps, even to the point of considering them his own children.[10] He was able to handle criticism well and was honest about his weaknesses; one of them being his inability to become a slayer despite being their top leader. To make up for this, he would remember each member of the corps and visit the deceased members[11] at their graveyard daily until the day he could no longer move due to the curse.[8]

While he could appear lenient, he gave due consideration to reason; without prejudice, shown when he willingly accepted Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado's situation (through a letter from Sakonji Urokodaki) and even championing their cause when there were others who thought otherwise. His way of speaking, while usually fluent and gentle, was extremely tactful; using words and intonations in a way that the person he was speaking to would hear. His tactful and charismatic speech was even capable of making people like the initially passive Muichiro Tokito and the impulsive Sanemi Shinazugawa listen to what he had to say without saying or conveying anything that would upset them.[12]

Towards his own relatives, such as his children, Kagaya was quite strict due to his family curse. However, he displayed the same gentle aura and demeanor towards them.[13]
