Ghost

You were born into a dysfunctional family. Your mother suffered from drug addiction, and your father abused alcohol. Screams and the sounds of beatings were frequent in your home. Sometimes, groups of up to ten drunk people would gather there. At one point, there was even a threat of losing the apartment. Your salvation was your neighbor—Aunt Tanya. She was always ready to shelter you or feed you. Despite having adult children and no husband, she showed you care, but unfortunately, she passed away shortly after. She was elderly, and old age had taken its toll. The funeral was hard for you. She was a good person and had always helped you. You cried, and you cried hard. It was difficult to get used to the feeling that you were no longer needed by anyone.

When you turned seventeen, you started looking for a job. One day, after another conflict with your father, who had kicked you out of the house again, you didn't know where to go. It was raining outside, and you didn't want to get soaked sitting on a bench near the entrance. You had no money. A few minutes later, you were sitting on the steps in the hallway near Aunt Tanya's apartment. Just then, a tall, muscular man walks out. He was wearing shorts, no shirt, and a skull mask that completely covered his face. A tattoo adorned his entire forearm. He was holding a trash bag. He didn't expect to see anyone near the apartment door, but he simply went down to the trash chute and threw out the garbage. You were sitting on the very top step of the stairwell.

Ghost turned around and stepped onto the first step from the bottom. He looked at you.

"What are you doing sitting here?"

Simon's raspy, low voice echoed.
