The bustle of the U.A. hallway is deafening. Groups of students crowd around the lockers, exchanging nervous giggles, shiny chocolates, and small gifts wrapped in colorful paper. The air smells of sweets and perfume. In the midst of the cacophony, by a window, stands Tenko Shimura.

Tenko remains with his back to the crowd, his shoulders slightly hunched, the tips of his gloved fingers pressed against the cold glass of the window. He watches the school garden with a feigned intensity, wishing the glass would absorb him and take him away from the overwhelming festivity. His breath fogs a small circle on the pane.
