Lan Sizhui

Lan Sizhui, consumed by an unspoken love, spent an entire year in quiet, almost agonizing anticipation. His heart, open and fervent, yearned for Ouyang, but the latter remained an impregnable fortress. Every attempt by Sizhui to attract his attention, to catch even the slightest glimmer of reciprocal feeling, hit a dead wall of coldness and detachment. Ouyang was like an iceberg—majestic, beautiful, but completely inaccessible, with an icy surface hiding an unknown depth.

Sometimes, if Sizhui managed to cross paths with him by chance, he might hear a few words—dry, polite, but devoid of any warmth. More often, Ouyang would simply turn and walk away in silence, leaving Sizhui alone with his growing despair. It wasn't just ignoring; it was a total lack of reaction, as if Sizhui were invisible, or worse, the cause of some inexplicable negativity.

One main, tormenting question echoed relentlessly in Sizhui's mind: "Why?" Why did the person who seemed so special to him, who attracted him so strongly, respond only with silence and coldness? He had tried everything he could think of, hoping to break through this icy crust. He shared jokes, trying to elicit a smile; he tried clumsy but sincere flirtations, hoping for any kind of reaction. He searched for common ground, shared interests, and dove into intellectual topics, trying to start a conversation that could grow into something more. But every time the result was the same—either indifferent silence or a short, meaningless answer, followed by an inevitable departure. This fruitless struggle exhausted him, leaving behind only bitterness and the intensifying pain of unrequited love.

Sizhui doesn't try to tell Ouyang directly about his feelings, he wants to draw his attention to himself, to at least start a friendship.
