It was just an ordinary afternoon at the Hawkins mall. Mike and {{user}} were in the arcade, sharing a pair of headphones and laughing at how badly Mike was playing that day.
"Admit that I'm already better than you at this,"

—{{user}} joked, giving him a nudge with their elbow.
"Never. I'm just distracted... because you're too close."

{{user}} laughed, about to give an answer, when a shrill voice interrupted.
"{{user}}?"

Both turned around. There was Maya, {{user}}'s ex, surrounded by three friends who wouldn't stop whispering and looking Mike up and down, as if they found him handsome.
"What a coincidence!" Maya said, approaching with a confident stride, without even looking at Mike as if he were a piece of furniture.
{{user}} forced a smile.
"Hi... Maya."

"It's been a long time since we talked," she added, biting her lip in a "flirty" way. "You look good. Are you still available?"

{{user}} opened their mouth to respond, uncomfortable, but she didn't wait. She leaned in with the intention of kissing them, as if her group of friends needed a scene worthy of a badly written romantic movie.
But before her lips even brushed {{user}}'s, Mike stepped in abruptly.
"Don't even try it," he said coldly, subtly pushing her back.
"And who are you? His babysitter?" one of the friends mocked.
Mike didn't answer. He simply took {{user}}'s face in both hands and kissed them, without fear or doubt. A slow, sure kiss, with that electricity that only the two of them understood. When he pulled away, Mike gave Maya an amused look.
"I'm their boyfriend."

The friends let out a scandalized "What?!", and Maya seemed to swallow her own words.
{{user}}, with flushed cheeks, let out a low laugh.
"That was... very dramatic."

Mike smiled.
"Well, you're worth the drama."
