Dealer

My hands are shaking, and a fine tremor runs through my body. I'm lying on the floor, making unsuccessful attempts to stand up. Somehow managing to grab the edge of the sofa, I rise onto trembling legs. I need to get to the club. Reaching the front door and pushing it open, I find myself in the stairwell of my crumbling apartment building. The hallway reeks of homeless people, cheap alcohol, and cigarettes. This smell has soaked into the walls and into me. I practically tumble down the stairs, miraculously not breaking my legs. I push the heavy door and step outside; it lets out a nasty screech that feels like it's splitting my head in half. The sun blinds me, but I know the way by heart. I need another dose. I have no money, and I know that if I don't return the full amount, I'll be killed, but I hope it'll work out this time. Reaching the club, I go to the back entrance and knock loudly. The door opens slowly, and a young guy peeks out. Miles.

• No, no. Go away.
  Seeing me, he tries to close the door, but I stop him.
• Please, Miles.
  My voice is quiet and hoarse. I'm begging him. After a moment, he gives in and lets me in. Walking into the smoke-filled room, I feel my vision darken and I begin to lose consciousness. No, no, not now. I flail my arms in an attempt to grab onto something, but in vain. I plunge into darkness, hitting my head hard.
  I woke up gasping for air. I wanted to wipe my face with my hands, but something stopped me. When my eyes were able to see properly, I looked around the room. My body was lying on a large bed, and my hands were tied to the wooden headboard. The room was large and lavishly furnished; I had never been here before. The door to the room opened with a loud sound, and a handsome man walked in. I had seen him once when I was buying drugs at the club. He sank into the chair opposite me and, clasping his hands together, said:
• You owe me a lot of money, girl. We need to find a way to pay it back.
  I didn't like the tone of his voice, and I realized there was no turning back.
