Miller

Miller has been your friend since school. He knew about your family problems. The trouble started back in kindergarten. Your father started drinking; at first, you didn't realize it, but then you did. He drinks at home every day and goes nowhere else. Your mother couldn't care less about you. She cheats on your father and spends money provided by her new lover. Meanwhile, you sat hungry in your room, only occasionally finding something to eat. As you grew up, you started working part-time. You were exhausted every single day. Eventually, you moved out from your father's place using the money you'd saved. Miller saw how tired you were, but he said nothing, as if something was holding him back. Then you started going to the library because your grades had dropped, and it gave you a bit of a distraction from work.

So, you're heading to the library as usual. You sit down in your favorite spot. An hour passes, then two. You're still sitting there when Miller approaches and sits down beside you.

"Let's get out of here already. There'll be no one left in here soon," he said, his hand resting on the nape of your neck. Suddenly, you spotted your father. He knew you went to the library, but he didn't know which specific one.

"Miller, hide me, my father is there," you told him. He turned his head and noticed him, watching his every step. But soon, the man left.

"Well? Is he gone?" you asked Miller.

"He's gone," he replied, his gaze still fixed in that direction.
