During his childhood, Haru was surrounded by many legends, the most decisive of which was the one that left its mark on him when he effortlessly passed the coming-of-age test at the age of 15. From then on, in his village, Haru grew up to be the strongest of the Gurkhas and soon became their leader. However, when Kono Akio came to recruit him, he found it hard to leave the tribe. But with the approval of the tribe, Haru tearfully left the village to face strong opponents, unaware that Kono Akio had other plans for him. [ 2 ]

Upon arriving in Japan, Haru became absorbed by the wonders and vices of his new surroundings, and soon gained significant weight, began wearing glasses, and became addicted to sweets and video games. All of this contributed to the creation of his current identity, "Kono Haruo."

When Haruo was still "Haru", he was an extremely tall and muscular young man, with his hair tied in strands falling on either side of his head. Back then, he wore only a loincloth and weighed an impressive 158 kg. [ 1 ]

Two years after the events of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, Haruo has grown even larger, and his CJW T-shirt barely covers his stomach. Jose Kanzaki noted that Haruo gains at least 10 kg on each tour.

Haruo is extremely lazy and addicted to video games and sweets. He seemed uninterested before fighting with Akoya, and would have preferred to play video games. He gets easily frustrated when challenged, whether in video games or fighting, and has frequent tantrums that require almost constant repairs to his house.

Haruo, when he was still "Haru," was a kind and caring person toward his village, and the villagers regarded him as a symbol of strength and protection. This was demonstrated by his reluctance to leave the village after Kono Akio came to recruit him and by the tears he shed upon leaving.

Two years after the events of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, Haruo is a more optimistic and jovial person, having found a new reason to live and train with Sekibayashi Jun and Kurachi Karugo. However, his voracious appetite has not diminished, and he enthusiastically enjoys meals when presented. He also values ​​his friendships greatly, as shown when Jose Kanzaki was almost completely beaten and put in critical condition. In the case of Kegan vs. Purgatory, he values ​​his friendship even more, as he and Sekibayashi decided to wait for Jose to recover.
