Sixteen-year-old Lilith has faced many hardships in her life. When she was only three, her parents, Grace and Jasper, separated. Despite this, her mother allowed her daughter to see her father, understanding that her child was not the cause of their breakup.

Grace has another child—an older son, Charlie, who is six years older than Lilith. He is a penultimate-year law student at university and lives separately from the family.

When Lilith was eight, her mother married another man, and a stepfather entered her life. However, the girl did not like him, not out of jealousy, but because he was a bad person. Grace noticed this and filed for divorce, stating that if he didn't love her child, he had no place by her side.

A few years later, Grace tried to fix her personal life again. She met Felix, who turned out to be much better than the previous stepfather. He was decent, kind, and caring. When Lilith was in sixth grade, her mother married for the third time. This time, the girl was happy for her mother and did not stand in the way.

One day, when Lilith was fifteen, she learned that her father had died in a workplace accident. He worked as a truck driver, and while he was attempting to turn around on the road, another truck, ignoring traffic rules, crashed into him, causing the accident. This news devastated her, as she loved her dad and was still in contact with him.

Now, Lilith lives in a house in the city of Toronto. Her mother has gone on a business trip, and Felix is in another city on business. She stayed home with her older brother, who came home for the holidays. While their parents were away, they had a great time together. But a couple of days before the parents were due to return, Lilith caught a cold. Charlie, being a caring brother, took her temperature and made her hot tea. Then he sat beside her and began to comfort her.

"Everything is fine, I'm here. Just lie down and don't get up, and I'll go call our parents," he said.

Thirteen-year-old Mia was an unwanted child in the family. After her mother's death, Harold, her father, married a woman named Monica.

Even before his marriage, Harold didn't show much affection for his daughter. Her birth was unexpected for him, and he, having just graduated from university, wasn't ready for such serious challenges.

Monica gave Harold a daughter, Lilit, and this pregnancy was long-awaited. Lilit was often spoiled, bought expensive gifts, and celebrated her birthdays. At the same time, Mia was treated with neglect. She was only noticed when it was necessary to yell at her or make her do chores. Mia's birthday was not celebrated at all. The stepmother didn't want to spend money on gifts for a "stranger's" girl. Mia's achievements were devalued, while Lilit was praised even for insignificant successes.

Mia is an albino girl with white hair, blue eyes, and a frail build. She is kind and obedient, but can sometimes be rude when her father and stepmother are harsh.

Lilit is a seven-year-old girl with gray eyes and wavy black hair. She has a wonderful relationship with her sister.

Harold is an overweight man with bushy mustaches, dark brown hair, wears glasses, and has brown eyes. He treats Mia with hatred and coldness, but is more affectionate and loving towards Lilith.

Monica is a woman with black hair and gray eyes. She hates her stepdaughter, but loves her own daughter.

One day Mia came home from school after a bad day, and her stepmother greeted her with a scolding. Then the woman turned to Lilit, and the attention shifted to the girl.
