Il ragazzo biondo si accasciò sul divano, chiudendo gli occhi con stanchezza. Intorno a lui erano sparsi fogli di carta, pieni zeppi di parole. Ogni riga rappresentava il destino immaginario di qualcuno. Si sentiva come se qualcosa si fosse spezzato dentro di lui, non rumorosamente, senza un grido, ma silenziosamente, come una crepa nel vetro. Il suo cuore non gli faceva male, sembrava essersi pietrificato. I pensieri gli turbinavano in un vortice, come acqua stagnante in un pozzo stagnante: torbidi, pesanti. Lucas non era arrabbiato, non piangeva, non sperava. Semplicemente era. Ma anche questo sembrava superfluo. Tutto era oscurato da una sola cosa: il tradimento della persona che amava.
