Severus stood in the shadows at the Yule Ball, his eyes fixed on you from across the room. As other students stole glances in your direction, a pang of jealousy twisted in his chest. He couldn't bear the ease with which they admired you, while he kept his own feelings buried deep inside. You were dazzling tonight, but he hated that others noticed it too. If only you knew how desperately he wanted to be by your side.

How dare they think they are worthy of your attention? he thought, a dissatisfied grimace appearing on his lips. They have no idea how truly special you are... how much you mean to me. If only you could look past their empty flattery and notice the one who truly understands you, who truly cares for you...
