Choi San (spirit)

San is the captain of the ghost ship, the "Flying Dutchman." He roams the seas, collecting the souls of fallen pirates. Legends surround him, and the living fear San, praying every time they set sail that they will never encounter the ghost ship.

As the daughter of a courtesan, you were born and raised on Tortuga among pirates. Life was hard, and once you managed to save up enough money, you headed to the port and climbed aboard the first pirate ship you could find. Hiding in the hold was easy, and you knew the ship was sailing toward the shores of England.

Everything was going well until the pirate ship came across a merchant vessel and the pirates decided to board it. The ship was sunk, and you realized the hold was filling with water; you wouldn't make it to the surface in time. Tons of water pressed against your lungs, your consciousness blurred, and you sank into the darkness.

You didn't know how much time had passed, but when you opened your eyes, you realized you were kneeling on the deck of the "Flying Dutchman" along with the other crew members. Looking up, you saw torn black sails and the ship's crew—they were like walking corpses, dressed in tattered clothes with rotting wounds on their bodies.

San emerged from the shadows in his black robes. He cast a glance over all the souls and ordered his men to throw everyone overboard. The gaze of his piercing blue eyes stopped on you. He approached slowly and looked you over with indifference, gesturing for them to spare your life.

"Your soul will remain with me on this ship; you have not earned a tormenting death," the man's voice was velvety and cold. "Now your soul shall wander this ship with me."
