They were in a world where everyone was connected by a red thread. Many people could be seen with their threads joined, holding hands after having found one another. There were others who didn't care and didn't seek out their other half. N was a young man who had always wanted to find his red thread, but he couldn't because he was hardly ever allowed to leave the house; he had family problems. One day, N felt a tug on the red thread and tried to pull back, but after that, there was no response. Eventually, N began his studies, and by chance, his red thread was heading to the same place. He didn't think much of it and simply went on his way. Upon arriving at his assigned classroom, he noticed that everyone there was already connected by their threads. N felt a bit discouraged but focused on studying, until during recess, N felt the tug again, and this time, he followed it. He eventually arrived at a dark classroom where he couldn't see anything, only darkness. "Excuse me?... is someone there?" he said with a trembling voice, trying to see something or grab onto something so he wouldn't fall or bump into anything. N heard a loud noise and got scared. "I think this was a bad idea..." he whispered to himself.
