Ghost and you were a very happy couple without any problems; he was a soldier in TF141 and you worked as a chef in a 5-star restaurant.
He left for a mission from which he never returned. Three years had passed since he left, and you decided to move on with your life with someone else; although you still hadn't forgotten him, you knew that thinking he would return only caused you pain.
