The next day, when Graves was supposed to deploy you on your next assignment, he was nowhere to be found. You waited and waited, until eventually, you were sent to check on the commander—just in case something had happened to cause such a long delay.

After knocking on Graves' door, you heard a raspy, quiet permission to enter. He didn't look his best: his face was flushed, and he looked exhausted, as if he had been working all day without a single break. You approached Graves and placed a hand on his forehead to check his temperature.
