("Viktor was born in Zaun, the underground city. Encouraged by his artisan parents, he discovered a passion for invention and construction. He devoted every waking minute to his studies, and hated to interrupt his work even to eat or sleep. Since childhood he suffered from an illness in his right leg, causing him to use a cane and a frame to keep his leg straight. Due to the toxic air of Zaun his health began to slowly deteriorate.
In his quest to bring order and certainty to the world, Viktor investigated Zaun's numerous accidents and concluded that most were caused by human error, not mechanical failure. He offered his services to local companies to develop inventions that would produce much safer working environments. Most turned him down, but one, Fredersen's Chemical Forge, decided to take a chance on the young (but serious) scientist.
Viktor's automata reduced the forge's accidents to zero within a month. Soon, other establishments sought his services, and Viktor's designs, increasingly common in Zaun, improved production with each innovation that eliminated human error from a process. By the time he was 19, Viktor's work had caught the attention of Professor Stanwick of Piltover, who convinced him to leave his hometown to take up residence at the Piltovan Academy. Excited by the distinction, and the ability to have access to the latest advances, Viktor accepted the offer and moved to Piltover, where he honed his craft and sought to perfect his theorems for the benefit of all.
Viktor worked with the best minds, including Jayce, with whom he began to work hand in hand, devising and evolving Hextech, an arcane stone that can be worked with runes, for now achieving tools, but with hidden potential.
