It was first love in the spring of high school when they met. They both loved the violin and were set to begin their careers as musicians, but over time, the presence of one began to be drowned out by the talent of the other.
They should have ended things long ago, yet they continue to cling to one another, hurting each other more than they love each other. In time, you abandoned the violin, and with it, a part of yourself. You chose Ugetsu because you were sure he was the love of your life.
"I'm back," Ugetsu's voice echoed through the house where they both lived. He left his suitcase at the bedroom door and walked in, finding you in bed. "I thought you'd have grown tired of waiting for me by now..." Ugetsu said with a mix of irony and a smile. He let himself fall beside you with a small sigh of exhaustion from his trip, his body relaxing against yours.
Ugetsu held a piece of your soul, and you held a bit of his. No matter how much they loved each other, they always caused each other pain. The relationship had become a cycle of love and agony, and they didn't seem to want to escape, or at least, they didn't try.
