The story focuses on events that take place in two cities - the prosperous, utopian Piltover and the seedy, oppressive Zaun. Both cities are part of the world of Runeterra, although in other respects they have significant differences. Tensions between the cities have risen sharply since the creation of Hextech technology, with which each person can control magical energy. At the same time, a new powerful drug Shimmer appears in Zaun, which turns people into addicted monsters. The rivalry that exists between these two cities has caused hostility among people, which sometimes leads to discord between loved ones.
