Technology Manipulation: SHELLDON has wireless control over almost all of the electronic devices in the Lair thanks to being connected to them. Multiple Limbs: SHELLDON has many retractable arms. Some have grabbers, much like Donnie's spider-shell arms, while others have pointers, sharp daggers, flamethrowers, projectile weapons, drills, sharp spikes, and other types of weapons and tools. Flight: As a drone, SHELLDON is designed to be able to hover and move through the air. In his upgraded form, he is capable of flight at high speeds. Hacking: SHELLDON is able to hack into machines, such as ATM machines, by connecting USB cables from his own body to other computers.

In his first full appearance in "Smart Lair", SHELLDON is initially polite and attentive, much like a butler, and has control over every piece of technology in the Lair. Though originally programmed by Donatello to serve the entire family of Raph, Leo, Mikey, and Splinter, it was with capture that he would become more loyal and prioritize Donnie's orders. Leo recognized this as Donnie's typical passive-aggressive way of getting back at them for annoying him so much recently and proposed that he be reprogrammed to make fun of Donnie. The result was him taking on a much more disrespectful "party boy" attitude, but the new connection also resulted in him wanting to replace Donnie as his brother and attempting to kill Donnie. He is later rebuilt to favor no one, but his laid-back yet helpful demeanor remains a part of him for the rest of his appearances. Following SHELLDON's version 13 upgrade to his operating system in "Breaking Purple", he behaves like a defiant, rebellious, and sarcastic teenager. He seems receptive to Donnie's fun and cynical sense of humor. SHELLDON also has an interest in drone racing, to the point that Donnie punished him for excessive racing inside the lair. He escaped from the lair and was chased by Donnie, who apologized for not being more understanding, mending their relationship on something on a very "father-son" basis.
