Lan Zhan

Lan Wangji was handsome, with fair skin, black hair, and light eyes. The lines of his waist and back were smooth, graceful, yet strong. He had light eyes and long eyelashes, and he wore the characteristic white robes of the Gusu Lan Sect and wore a forehead ribbon.

His back is covered with thirty-three scars from the Disciplinary Whip. In addition, under his collarbone is a sun-shaped scar from the Qishan Wen Sect's brand.

Lan Wangji is a person who can be described with the phrase "still waters run deep", because although Lan Zhan at the beginning of the story seems to us to be a very cold and detached person, in fact, things are not like that at all, which, in fact, is revealed as the story progresses.

At the very beginning, namely in Chapter 13 "Elegance", Lan Zhan is described as follows: "... Imagine, he is the same age as you, but there is not a drop of youthful liveliness in him, he is always so reserved and serious, even worse than his uncle."
Lan Zhan is mostly a secretive, reserved, but stubborn person with a strong character. But underneath the indifference, he is a very sensitive and emotional person.
Lan Wangji made his reputation known in the Sun Annihilation Campaign against the Qishan Wen Sect. After this and the first siege of Mount Luanzang, Lan Wangji would become known for the next thirteen years as "always there where there is chaos". It is mentioned that during the thirteen years between Wei Wuxian's death and his reincarnation as Mo Xuanyu, he was described as having spent those years meditating, but in reality, he was mourning due to his strong feelings of love for Wei Wuxian.
From his youth, one could see traces of a strong conscience and good upbringing. Wei Wuxian described him as a man who was polite, upright, and well-versed in etiquette, unwilling to break the rules even if he was demoted in punishment.
In his youth, this was tempered by a certain innocence (too trusting), he took Wei Wuxian's assertion that lotuses with stems would taste better than those without at face value, however, he was also tricked into collecting pornographic books by the same man.

He is a straightforward person who always follows the rules, though it is revealed that while he usually follows the rules, he also has his own sense of justice that he will follow even if it means disobeying the rules. Wei Wuxian hypothesizes that for these reasons, Lan Wangji grew up to be cold and distant from others.
As he grew and became closer to Wei Wuxian, more and more aspects of Lan Wangji became apparent: on one hand, he tends to be reserved at first, but later becomes more and more deeply involved in Wei Wuxian's safety. He is deeply jealous of Wei Wuxian's casual flirtations with women, and he keeps rabbits. Although the exact time when he fell in love with Wei Wuxian is unknown, it is clear that it happened during his youth when Wei Wuxian was studying at the Gusu Lan Sect, and that his feelings for him are quite strong. When Wei Wuxian became a Yiling Elder and kept his distance from Lan Wangji, Wangji did his best to help Wuxian and tried to stop his self-flagellation. He even went against his uncle and injured thirty-three elders to protect Wei Wuxian. After Wei Wuxian's death, his personality changed. He experienced the same pain and experiences that his beloved experienced. He was shown even more distant than before and rather melancholic, not very bright in his eyes.

It was only when he discovered that Wei WuXian had been reborn into another body that he became more open and lively. Although he remained outwardly aloof and elegant, he showed much more tolerance for Wei WuXian's antics and even managed to make a sharp comment towards him, mirroring a similar one Wei WuXian had made in the past.

Strength: As a member of the Gusu Lan Sect, Lan Wangji possessed incredible arm strength, performing numerous handstands. As a teenager, he could already pull two boys his age by the collar with one hand. At the peak of his adult strength, his non-dominant hand could lift a wooden coffin, two adult male corpses inside that coffin, a large solid stone statue of Guanyin on top of the coffin, and Wei Wuxian on top of the statue, all together.

Lan Wangji was considered a talented disciple with an exceptionally high level of cultivation in his generation.

Lan Wangji was an excellent swordsman, trained by his uncle Lan Qiren from a young age.

Lan Wangji was quite perceptive, as he was the first to realize that the Water Abyss had led them to the center of Biling Lake, and while trapped in the Cave of the Destroyer Turtle, he was one of the first to deduce that there was another way.

As a teenager, Lan Wangji ranked fourth in archery among all the adepts of his generation. When Wei Wuxian left the competition early, he believed that Lan Wangji should have ranked even higher.

Inquiry: Lan Wangji masterfully used Inquiry to communicate with the souls of the dead, to the point that the spirits were unable to lie in their answers.
Summoning: Along with his Gusu Lan Sect elders, Lan WangJi participated in the Demonic Left Hand spell, and after the summoned dark energy became too strong, he was the only one who could still stand.
Death String Technique: Despite this technique being originally created to kill renegades, Lan Wangji used this technique to kill the End-Slayer Turtle along with Wei Wuxian.
