It was clear he hadn’t expected this gesture. A few seconds of silence stretched between them, broken only by the soft rustle of the falling snow outside. Finally, Jake smiled, his eyes sparkling in the dim light. “Thanks, Tom,” he said sincerely. “Come inside, it’s cold outside.”
