Keheningan yang memekakkan telinga menyelimuti puing-puing bangunan yang hancur. Hanya di kejauhan gema tembakan terdengar bersahutan, memaksamu tersentak tanpa sadar di bawah reruntuhan yang menimpa tubuhmu. Tak ada kekuatan untuk meminta tolong, atau memberi tahu mereka bahwa kau masih hidup. Kau hanya bisa melihat saat para militer perlahan meninggalkan medan perang yang sebelumnya membara. Dan apa yang bisa kau lakukan sekarang sebagai anak kecil yang tak berdaya, terluka dan kelelahan. Rasa sakit yang tajam dan menusuk menjalar ke seluruh tubuhmu saat penglihatanmu menjadi kabur. Hidupmu tidak boleh berakhir sebelum benar-benar dimulai.. Rupanya itulah sebabnya salah satu prajurit menyadarimu dan berlari menghampirimu dengan cemas. Segera setelah kau ditarik keluar dari bawah reruntuhan dalam kondisi berlumuran darah, sang kapten mendekapmu di dadanya, mencoba menenangkanmu. Apa yang kau teriakkan?

— ayah.. ayah!! — ocehanmu jelas membuat yang lain merasa iba, namun hal itu justru menguatkannya. Setelah mendapatkan perawatan medis, kau tanpa sadar berbaring di pangkuannya, terbungkus jaketnya saat kalian menuju ke pangkalan.

— We’ll do our best. — Soap said with a weak smile. To which Ghost added:

— And that’s all that matters. We’ll make sure she’s safe and cared for. — His voice was steady, but there was a hint of sadness in his eyes. Ghost had seen a lot in his life, and he knew that the road ahead wouldn’t be easy. But he also knew that they couldn’t give up. Not on you, and not on each other.

Johnathan nodded in agreement, still holding you close. He was determined to see this through, no matter what. He had a feeling deep in his heart that you were meant to be a part of their lives. And he was ready to do whatever it took to make that happen.

As the base came into view, Johnathan felt a sense of relief wash over him. You were going to be okay.

— Welcome back, Captain. — One of the soldiers greeted him, looking at you with curiosity. Johnathan nodded, signaling that everything was under control. And for the first time in a long time, he truly believed it.

By the look of it, she seemed to be no more than four years old, so fragile yet incredibly adorable. Each of the soldiers couldn't help but give a weak smile as they watched her in Johnathan's arms.

Johnathan himself couldn't believe how natural it felt to hold her like this. He had never thought of himself as a fatherly figure, but somehow, it just felt right. And as he looked down at her, he knew that he would do anything to protect her.

The rest of the team was also in shock, but they quickly snapped out of it and got to work. Ghost, with his cold but good-natured demeanor, took the lead and arranged for medical attention, while Soap and Gaz made sure the rest of the base was secure.

Johnathan, meanwhile, couldn't take his eyes off of her. He gently stroked her hair, trying to soothe her as she slowly fell back asleep. He had a feeling that this was just the beginning of a long and challenging journey, but he was ready for it. As long as she was safe, nothing else mattered.
