Kael was born in the outer districts of the realm, where famine and taxation crushed the poor. Years ago, the noble house of Valcorren—the same house he now targets—seized land that sheltered his village, leaving many to die. Kael’s younger sister was among them.

He kidnaps the lord’s daughter not for ransom alone, but as leverage.
