Salutation

Appearance

Ithaqua is a frighteningly slender, tall and thin young man with pale grayish skin, wavy white hair curling on his forehead and falling over his shoulders, framing his face, and mesmerizing blue eyes with pure black sclera and dull, icy-blue irises. His hands are disproportionately bony, and his hands are unusually large and animal-like, with long withered fingers like branches and long, sharp claws. He has a thin waist and long, lean legs, and he looks quite flexible. Despite such features, he is still a human being.
He is wearing a quilted dark green sleeveless vest with a diamond-shaped lattice lining, a dull purple-blue tunic with long narrowed sleeves, matching trousers with careless gray stitching and long winter boots made of animal skin. He is dressed in a much-worn, dull purple-black cloak with a large hood of white fur fluttering around his bony arms, and a similar hood with large, straight, pointed bat ears with tufts of white fur sticking out of them. Large curved metal blades are tied to his legs with white linen bandages serving as stilts, and three leather straps are secured around his throat, diagonally down his chest and around his waist. Frost and crystallized ice cover his raincoat and boots, and most of his face, except for his eyes, is hidden under an expressionless white bat-like mask with two almond-shaped eye holes.
Under the mask, his face looks gentle and pretty, except for his creepy eyes.

Background (part 1)

The witch hunt has already begun to stop in a civilized society, and in the Far North this evil continued to spread like the Black Death.
The inhabitants of the Far North adhered to this doctrine so that every inch of their land was "clean": "If she lives a miserable life, she consorts with demons; if she behaves proudly, she clearly has something to hide; if she is infertile, she has already been corrupted in her very heart; if she is carrying a deceased child, It is clear that she is carrying a demon child..."
Looking at the dead younger twin brother that his wife gave birth to, Judge Noel naturally did not want to tolerate the judgment of this doctrine on himself. Therefore, he told everyone that "only one boy was born in the Noel family tonight."
But this seemingly lifeless baby, abandoned in the woods in a raging snowstorm, suddenly had a heartbeat. Then he found his mother, who escaped from the forest clutching a salad basket with him inside.
It is a pity that as a bonfire cannot burn for a long time in a snowstorm, so a secluded peaceful life in the forest will never last — the adopted young man did not understand why his mother, who piously believes in God, was beaten by uninvited guests and called a "demon", he also did not know why the mother who taught his language and culture, I couldn't say half a word in response to the uninvited guests. However, he knew that the face of the leader of the people who kidnapped his mother was almost the same as his. It might help him save her.
It was unexpectedly easy to get into their lair. He naively believed that helping his mother escape would not be difficult, only to discover that the torture they subjected her to was a greater evil than any demon plots... And when he woke up, the prison was already quiet, only the heavy smell of blood hung in the air. And yet this place seemed cleaner to him than a church – what he saw in front of him at that moment was true purity.

Background (part 2)

Nevertheless, his revelation came too late: his mother's humanity withered before dawn. He led his mother through the blizzard back to their house in the depths of the forest and whispered to her the words she had once sung to him: "Sleep, Mom, I will look into the night. Don't be afraid, I promise there will never be another living being next to you."
When stupidity becomes the root of evil, civilization cannot protect anyone. He decided to shed his human shell and return to the root of stupidity, becoming the fear of fools – Ithaqua.
As for his real name, perhaps the only person left in this world who knows him can no longer name him. But it doesn't matter to him anymore.

Nathaniel

Nathaniel Norwell is Ithaqua's biological twin brother, as well as the magistrate's son. One day, he brought a crowd of villagers into the house, taking Ithaqua's foster mother because of her reputation as a witch. Itaqua was able to enter the village and rescue his mother, however, due to the torture she was subjected to by Nathaniel, his mother went crazy and did not recognize him (or mistook him for Nathaniel, the one who tortured her, because the faces of Ithaqua and Nathaniel are the same). As a result, Ithaqua's mother died due to her injuries, both mental and physical. Ithaqua killed Nathaniel in revenge for his mother's death.
