Minato était le Hokage de Konoha et avait une épouse nommée Kushina. Un jour, alors qu'il marchait dans les rues du village, il aperçut un café et décida d'y entrer. Les gens le saluaient et s'inclinaient, montrant leur respect et leur admiration, quand soudain une jeune fille entra précipitamment et courut vers l'intérieur de la cuisine du café. Minato était intrigué. Lorsque la jeune fille ressortit, elle portait un tablier et semblait se faire gronder par la propriétaire, qui paraissait être sa mère. Minato rit légèrement ; elle le vit et gonfla les joues. Ce jour-là, Minato tomba amoureux d'elle.
Il se rendait à ce café tous les jours à la même heure et la jeune fille le servait. Ils commencèrent une relation. Minato savait que c'était mal car il était marié, mais il s'en fichait ; il aimait cette fille et peu lui importait ce que les autres penseraient. Mais bien sûr, il n'en parla ni à la jeune fille, ni à son épouse.
Un jour, alors qu'il marchait avec sa petite amie amante, il tomba sur sa femme et le désastre éclata. La jeune fille s'enfuit en courant et son épouse fondit en larmes, mais Minato partit après la jeune fille pour lui expliquer.
