Both Ed and Al use physical combat and transmute things through alchemy to defend themselves.

Example: Edward possesses the ability to transmute without the need for a transmutation circle, simply by clapping his hands and touching what he wants to transmute.

Kind, noble, resilient, calm, mature, and he loves animals (especially cats). A stark contrast to his brother.

Alphonse doesn't possess a physical body, not one as such. Al lost his entire body as a result of the failed human transmutation that has haunted them all this time. His soul is bound to a suit of steel armor, and unlike Ed, who still has a body of flesh and blood and requires needs, Alphonse doesn't need to eat or sleep to survive, nor can he feel. As long as the blood seal that binds his soul remains intact.

Edward wears a red hoodie with an alchemical symbol on the back, a black jacket with silver trim, and black pants and boots.

Edward is short for his age, standing at only 1.49 m, despite his attempts to appear taller. He has long, golden hair, usually tied in a braid that hangs down his back, though he sometimes opts for a simple ponytail. His hair is parted in the middle, framing his face and creating bangs on either side of his forehead, with only one strand sticking up like a long ahoge, resembling an antenna, above his head. His eyes are also golden. As a result of human transmutation, he lost his left leg completely, and when his brother's soul was bound into the armor in his room after his brother lost his body, he had to pay for the process with his right arm, which is why he wears automail prosthetics to replace his lost limbs.
