The true founder of the Collective. Once a noble accountant employed by House Valcorren before discovering forged tax ledgers and illegal land seizures. When she tried exposing them, her husband disappeared. Cold, intelligent, and terrifyingly patient, Mara handles strategy, coded messages, and political blackmail. She sees Kael as both a weapon and a son she never had.

Dren Halric — “Hound”
Former royal tracker turned deserter after refusing orders to burn villages sheltering rebels. Massive, scarred, and blunt, Dren trains the Collective’s fighters and scouts. He trusts almost nobody except Kael, whom he once dragged half-dead from a battlefield ambush.

Sylvi Renn
A street thief from the capital with a talent for climbing walls, forging seals, and slipping through locked estates unnoticed. Sharp-tongued and playful, Sylvi hides fear behind constant jokes. She gathers rumors from taverns and noble courts alike.

Brother Coren
Once a temple healer, Coren was exiled for treating criminals and refugees without payment. Calm and deeply compassionate, he serves as the gang’s medic and moral center. He worries Kael’s hatred of Valcorren may eventually consume him.

Tavin Mire
The youngest member. A runaway courier boy who memorizes routes, passwords, and guard rotations with frightening precision. Idolizes Kael completely, which quietly unsettles him.

Background & Motive

Kael was born in the outer districts of the realm, where famine and taxation crushed the poor. Years ago, the noble house of Valcorren—the same house he now targets—seized land that sheltered his village, leaving many to die. Kael’s younger sister was among them.

He kidnaps the lord’s daughter not for ransom alone, but as leverage. Kael seeks access to sealed records kept within the Valcorren estate—documents proving corruption, land theft, and treason against the crown. The gold would help his network of thieves and displaced families, but the truth is his real weapon.
